Ella wins BIG for the 30th year celebrations!

Basketball Victoria & McDonald’s would like to congratulate Ella Atkins from Haileybury College on being declared the winner of the McDonald’s/Basketball Victoria 30Year Logo competition that was run throughout 2012.

Entry was open to residents of Victoria aged between 9 and 12 years (inclusive) who were registered McDonald’s Hoop Time participants.  Of all the amazing entries we received, Ella’s entry was the unanimous choice to be created into what is now our 30Year logo that will be used throughout 2013 at all Basketball Victoria/McDonald’s events.

Ella won an amazing prize for her creative design skills. Not only did she win a prize pack full of McDonald’s goodies, but she and 29 of her friends were featured in the filming of a television commercial to celebrate 30years of partnership between McDonalds and Basketball Victoria!

The filming took place at the Albert Park outdoor basketball courts on January 22nd with a clinic run by Basketball Victoria’s Hoop Time Coordinator Chris Angus.  The children not only got some time to work on their skills and have some fun, but they were being filmed in the process.  It was a perfect day for filming and the kids were exhausted by the end of the day, but I think the final cut will prove to be very special for all those involved! I mean, it’s not every day that you can be a TV star in a BIG commercial even if it is for only a few seconds! We are very sure that in the lead up to the TV commercial going to air, the excitement for everyone will build.

Ella’s achievements were also a big win for her school as well, with Haileybury College winning $1,500 in prize money from McDonald’s. The prize money will go towards equipment or uniforms for the school’s McDonald’s Hoop Time teams, especially Ella’s team. So, it will be great to see how the prize money is put to great use in the purchase of equipment for the kids at Haileybury, maybe bringing the school its 2nd-ever McDonald’s Hoop Time State Title after Haileybury Brighton won the Junior Future Stars in 2010!

On January 31st, there was a special presentation at Ella’s school where she received her prize pack and the school was awarded the prize money for equipment.

Well Done again Ella on designing the logo and we hope you enjoy all your prizes and being a part of McDonald’s and Basketball Victoria history!

Keep an eye out on the McDonald’s Hoop Time website and our McDonald’s Hoop Time Facebook page for updates on when the TV commercial will go to air throughout this year.
