KFC/Taco Bell’s Dicky Feria gets tangled with the Rollers’ Matt Mamaril during the fourth quarter of their game in the U15 division of the Rotary caging last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium. (Roselyn B. Monroyo)There is still a three-team standoff for the lead in the U15 division of the 22nd Annual Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League after last Saturday’s games were completed at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The Ol’Aces got a piece of the top spot, following a 69-20 demolition of the DA Projects in the first game last weekend. The Ol’Aces now has a 4-1 record, the same mark KFC/Taco Bell holds after a 50-26 rout of the Rollers in the third match. Completing the three-way tie is DYS, which notched a free win in the second game after the Rebelholics (1-4) showed up for the tiff without enough players.

In the first match, the Ol’Aces was on target right at the get-go to take a promising 20-2 lead. The DA Projects never made headway in the remaining three periods, although it managed to score in twin digits in the second canto, firing 12 markers. The DA Projects finished the round-robin league winless in five games.

Jared King nailed 20 points to lead three other Ol’Aces players in double figures, Rudy Lazaro chipped in 12, while Jayron Epity and K.J. Nabors added 11 and 10, respectively. Fernando Taman paced DA Projects with his 8 markers.

In the third game, KFC/Taco Bell also held the Rollers to one field goal in the opening eight minutes of the match to seize early control of the duel en route to the 24-point win.

C.J. Morales outgunned the entire Rollers crew, tallying 7 points in the first period, while Art Borromeo took over in the remaining three quarters to lift KFC/Taco Ball to its fourth win.
