VHF Marine Radio Operators Course

The Marine Radio operators course is run over one evening, 18:30-21:30 at the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria.

Topics covered include:

• Use of VHF radio telephony
• Understanding and use of DSC facilities
• Maintenance of marine radio equipment
• Understanding of regulations applicable to the use of ship marine radios
• Knowledge of Australian Marine Search and Rescue system

The cost of this course includes a hard copy of the Marine VHF Rodio Operators Handbook and the examination fee to undertake ACMA test to obtain your Marine Radio VHF Operators Certificate of Proficiency.  Cost $190

• GMDSS systems and equipment
• Use of MF/HF and VHF radio telephony
• Understanding and use of DSC facilities
• Maintenance of marine radio equipment
• Understanding of regulations applicable to the use of ship marine radios
• Knowledge of Australian Marine Search and Rescue system

The cost of this course includes a hard copy of the Marine Radio Operators Handbook and the examination fee to undertake ACMA test to obtain your Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency.  Cost $280

Diesel Maintenance Course

  • Lubrication
  • Owner maintenance/Trouble shooting
  • Review of vessel installation

Man overboard (recovery technique’s ) Workshop

A two hour session Cost: $50/person.

Date:

We all practice our drills to get the boat back to the person in the water ( or we should) . But how many of you have a go at getting a “Helpless” “wet” 100Kg person back on board, in even relatively mild conditions.

Take part in dockside (on-water) workshop session to explore various techniques, gear, and related topics such as MOB with tether attached.  Numbers limited to 10 participants/session

 
 

Level 2 First Aid

 

The Level 2 First aid course will be run over 4 evenings 18:30 - 21:30 at the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria.

Topics covered include:

  • Perform immediate lifesaving first aid pending the arrival of medical assistance.
  • Recognise the symptoms and signs of acute illness and/or injury and take appropriate action
  • Manage wounds and bleeding
  • Manage burns
  • Manage bone, joint and muscle injuries
  • Adapt first aid procedures for remote situations

  • First night of this course will include an 'Update CPR' if you would like to just do the first night please contact Ian Fox

Cost:  $180 for full course
