SWQ Zone Championships

Zone Championships Carnivals for Juniors / Men / & Women

Following the positive feedback from the 2015 Zone Championship Carnivals conducted for Juniors, Men & Women, we have again this year decided to run these carnivals for the benefit of players and coaches alike.

The concept continues for these championships that arose due to the lack of quality games for those players in the above age groups who were not participants of the NPL Elite program for players throughout South West Queensland.

Zone Championships – JUNIORS

These championships will be held on the following dates:-

Sundays – 3 Rounds - 22nd May; 5th June; 19th June

Age Groups will be :- U12; U13; U14; U15/16

Zone Championships – MEN & WOMEN

These Championships will be held on the weekend of Sat / Sun 11th & 12th June

All Clubs will be invited to enter a Men’s team to participate, and all Women’s teams are invited. To allow for maximum participation there will be NO Senior Clubs fixtures scheduled for this weekend.

Zone Championships – GIRLS

This event will be held on Sunday 12th June in conjunction with the final day of the Women’s Zone championships. This will allow for participation in Saturday fixtures. U14 & U16 Girls Teams invited to submit nominations for these age groups.

Zone Championships – COLTS

This event will be held on Sunday 12th June in conjunction with the final day of the Men’s Zone championships. This will allow for participation in Friday night / Sat fixtures. Colts (U16-18) Teams are invited to submit nominations for these championships.

Nomination Forms and Flyers will be distributed shortly.

VENUES

Expressions of Interest are invited from any Club that wishes to host either a round of the Junior Zone Championships or either the Men’s or Women’s Zone Championships.

The Criteria required to host includes the following :-

 * More than two fields

 * Canteen – Club Volunteers can run the canteen on the day & retain profits for their club

 * Lunch supplied from the host Club to their Club & Zone Volunteers & Team Selectors

 * Host Club to set up the fields with fields markings; nets, corner flags, tents

 * Suitable Referees Rooms to accommodate Referees for all the games

 * Suitable Dressing rooms for teams.

 SWQ Zone Representative Teams.

 This year, we will again be sending teams to the Gold Coast Youth Cup in the September holidays.

Selection for these Teams will be made throughout the Junior Zone Championships three rounds and successful players advised of their selection into the team.

16 players plus 4 shadows will be advised on selection following Round 3 on 19th June. This allows up to 12-13 weeks of training before the Gold Coast Cup Tournament.

We will increase our participation this year and will include the following age groups:-

U12 Boys; U13 Boys; U14 Boys; U15 Boys & U16 Boys (a separate U15 & U16 Boys team will be selected only if enough players attend Zone Championships, and are available for selection);

and

U14 Girls & U16 Girls (Girls can play in the Junior June Championships in mixed teams) will be selected from the three junior zone championship rounds, as well as the Girls Zone Championship round.

SWQ Zone Representative Team COACHES

To enable us to send our Teams to the Gold Coast Cup, we are calling for Expressions of Interest to Coach a SWQ Representative Zone Team.

Our teams are U12 Boys; U13 Boys; U14 Boys; U15 Boys; U16 Boys; U14 Girls & U16 Girls.

Coaches must have a minimum of a Community Game Training Certificate or progressing with acquiring this Level before June.

Commitment to Coach a SWQ Rep team will include weekend trainings, trial games, and attendance at the Gold Coast Cup Carnival during the second week of the September School Holidays.

An allowance of $500 is given to the Coach of each team, along with a Travel/Accommodation/Meal Allowance of $500 for the week.
