Power Comfortably Account For Pride

Peninsula Power

Words: Aaron Cooper

Peninsula Power Women have continued their commanding start to the PS4 NPLW QLD season with a comprehensive 8-0 victory over Western Pride Women on Sunday.

Hat-tricks from both Brooke Barbuto and Ashley Doyle highlighted a dominant performance for the Power. The win is the Power's second straight to open the campaign which confines the Pride to consecutive defeats to begin their season.

Defender Jessica Davis opened the scoring early on for the hosts before two goals from Barbuto had Peninsula up 3-0 at the break.

Barbuto completed her hat-trick 12 minutes after the break at which point Doyle had yet to score. Three goals in 27 minutes for the Power attacker saw her complete her hat-trick in the final stages of the game.

Peninsula will now play their first match of the season away from A.J. Kelly Park next Sunday afternoon against University of Queensland while Western Pride play their first home fixture of the season next Saturday against Olympic.
