Parent Code of Conduct

Parents and Spectators

Parents and Spectators have a great influence on a child’s enjoyment and success in football. All children play football because they first and foremost love the game – it's fun. It is important to remember that however good a child becomes at football within our club, you as parents and spectators have a very important role to play and that your positive encouragement will contribute to:

  • Children enjoying football.
  • A sense of personal achievement.
  • Self-esteem.
  • Improving the child’s skills and techniques.
Parents and spectator’s expectations and attitudes have a significant bearing on a child’s attitude towards:
  • Other players
  • Officials & Umpires
  • Coaches
  • Spectators
Mitcham Junior Football Club expect that parents / spectators within our club are always positive, giving encouragement towards ALL of the children, not just their own.
We encourage parents / spectators to:
  • Applaud the opposition as well as your own team.
  • Avoid coaching the child during the game. Messages that conflict with coach’s instructions may confuse the player.
  • Not to shout and scream in an abusive and intimidating manner.
  • Always barrack in a positive and encouraging way.
  • Respect the umpire’s decision and never abuse, intimidate or approach.
  • Give attention to each of the children involved in football not just the most talented.
The Mitcham Junior Football Club committee expect ALL parents and spectators to acknowledge and adhere to this ‘Code of Conduct’ and our Racial & Religious tolerance Policy’.
