Burrows Reappointed as BDAFL Umpires Coach for 2018
Christine Burrows has been reappointed and Black Diamond AFL Umpires Coach for 2018.
The reappointment will be the sixth year that Burrows has filled this important role.
Burrows is without peer in her ability to transition umpires from junior ranks into seniors, a process which has seen many local umpires progress through Umpire Talent Pathways including the BDAFL's leading umpire, Joseph O'Brien, who last year umpired an AFLW match having progressed from the local junior umpiring ranks.
Last year Christine was selected to undertake an AFL Executive Certificate High Performance Umpire Coaching and Management Course. There are only 14 invitations granted Australia wide for this course.
Whilst the transition of umpires from juniors to seniors and improvement within the umpiring ranks will continue to be a major focus in 2018, the continuation of the Women Club Field Umpiring program will also be a major initiative in 2018.
BDAFL Football Operations Manager, Garry Burkinshaw was thrilled with the reappointment.
"Christine is highly regarded within AFL NSW/ACT as an umpires coach and for her recommit to the BDAFL in fantastic for umpiring in the region" Burkinshaw said.
"Having been in the role for five years, Christine understands the local umpiring landscape and the challenges faced as the competition undergoes significant changes in 2018". he added.
