Volunteering at Westgate

Westgate Basketball Association has a range of volunteering opportunities throughout the year, including helping with fundraising, community engagement, coaching or team managing in our Tournament Team programme, appointed roles in MU VJBL Imperials programme, event planning, social media and marketing opportunties, and more.

So whether you are looking to gain some skills or share your existing knowledge and experience we would like to hear from you. You can volunteer for just a few hours a month or a few hours a week.

To volunteer you will need to share in Westgate Basketball's statement of purpose and values, possess a valid Working With Children Check licence (see details below), and be fair and enthusiastic in your approach to all Westgate current and potential participants.

If you would like to volunteer please download our volunteer application form, complete it and email with some information about yourself to admin@westgatebasektball.com.au

Our Volunteer Coordinator will be in contact with you shortly.

The Westgate Volunteer application pdf form is below.

WWCC and member protection requirements.

1. Working with Children Check (WWCC) application (mandatory)
All coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, assistant coaches, scorers and other volunteers, over the age of 18, require a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) in accordance with the legislation introduced by the Victorian State Government. Westgate Basketball Association does not recognise the exemptions under the Act for teachers who are currently registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) or current serving Victorian Police Officer or Australian Federal Police officers (not under suspension).

If you haven't registered for a WWCC before, click the link below. It's an easy online process and for volunteer checks it's free. Once lodged online you will need to finalise your application at a  participating Victorian Australia Post outlet. Without the WWCC the Club cannot allow you to act in any of the above capacities. Once you receive your card please take a photo of it and send to admin@westgatebasketball.com.au

If you hold an existing WWCC outside the Club (for your paid employment or other volunteer roles) you will need to update your details and add our details as a listed organisation to your WWCC records.
