Shooter Steindl Re-signs with QBL Brisbane Capitals Women

Shooter Brooke Steindl has re-signed with the Brisbane Capitals for the 2013 QBL season.

Steindl who played her junior basketball in Mackay will look to improve on last season’s performances to help her team get closer to a play-off spot.

Under Coach Veal, Steindl was asked to lift and she responded well with increased opportunities that saw her almost double her court time from the previous season. In her new role as first off the bench and on many occasions being rewarded for her hard work by earning a starting spot, Steindl became accustomed to the pace and intensity with which her coach expected her to play.

“Kristen worked with me a lot last year on my ball handling skills and gave me a lot of confidence that I haven’t had in previous years” Steindl said when asked about the impact her coach has had on her game.

As a result of that hard work and persistence Steindl was rewarded by earning a spot in the BDS Logan Thunder WNBL Academy which will see her train with the players and coaches at the professional level and maybe give her an opportunity to go that one step further.

This year it is expected that Veal and Caps fans will see even greater improvement from Steindl “she is a skilled and talented local player who will only benefit from more exposure to the QBL” Veal said.

Steindl, as well as many of the Caps community, believe that Brisbane is building momentum towards being a force in the QBL and that the hard work being done by the players will eventually pay off.

“I’ll work with Kristen and the coaches to improve the weak areas of my game and do what I can to help the Caps finally get that championship!”
