QP Dukhan, Consultants-Ralos, QDVC-LRT, Dukhan Ballers, IMCO, Team Creation Stars, CEG International & KIA Motors Win

The hail mary shot by Nurhashim Mama of former champs KBAS Contracting fell short of beating the buzzer that dealt them a heartbreaking loss to QP Dukhan, 85-84, in the continuing elimination rounds in the Division B of Subaru Cup 2012 of Pinoy Basketball Qatar (PIBAQ).

Nurhashim released the ball with no more time left and hit the basket to the wild cheers of the fans but referees after a brief huddle decided to nullify the score saying it already ran out of the playing time.

KBAS coach Mike Marlowe Udarbe never protested the call and in a sportsmanlike manner even congratulated the opposing team for the exciting ball game considered one of the best this season. He said his boys played their hearts out even with the absence of former MVP Pocholo Santos who is in vacation back in the Philippines.

A double overtime also greeted the excited fans in the ensuing game between Familia Bisdak and Consultants-Ralos but in the end the Consultants prevailed a five-point edge, 94-89,to win the game. The game was 66-all in the regulation time and 82-all again in the extended five-minute overtime until the trio of Edgar Sy, Ancheta and Plarizan took charge in the all-out offense to lift their team into victory.

QDVC LRT on the other hand survived another thriller against Gilas 3 to pull away in the fourth quarter, 107-88, but not after a very close trading of baskets all the way until the third quarter that took them to just a one-point lead 75-74.

Dukhan Ballers again commanded a convincing victory over Ali Café, 80-69, to continue their spotless three-game winning streak. Under 16-national player who presently played for Gharafa Sports Club, CJ Casas was again the winning factor of their team.

PIBAQ officials is seriously considering of pulling out from the team rosters, the MCXHEL team for their unsportsmanlike walk-out of the game against IMCO Engineering with still eight minutes left in the game.

MCXHEL’s Julius Angeles was furiously complaining to table officials about his fourth foul in the record insisting that he only committed three so far but playing coach Frederick Lee apparently infuriated the protest by challenging a fight prompting referees to separately slap them of technical fouls.

According to FIBA rules, a player or any team member is prohibited from going close to the officials table to shout invectives to protest a decision on the records of the game.

Three other teams claimed lopsided victories against their opponents including a win by Team Creations Stars over Al Dar Exchange, 109-34; Smeet Precast against CEG International, 111-43, and KIA Motors against KAHRAMAA, 104-65.
