New Tournament Match Schedule published

Due to the AFL Grand Final replay taking place between 06:30 and 09:30 on Saturday 2nd October, the Tournament Match schedule has been altered with the first games commencing at 10:00.

The pools have been restructured and one finals match has been removed.

The women's international between Italy and Ireland will continue to take place on the main field at 17:00

EU Crusaders looking for more players

The EU Crusaders, a European representative team traditionally comprised of excess players of countries already participating or players travelling to the Euro Cup will be taking the field once again in 2010.

All interested non-Australian male players from any European country are welcome to join the team.

So far there has been interest from players in Andorra, Belarus, Iceland, Spain and Italy.

AFL Grand Final Replay at the Euro Cup

Scottish poet Robert Burns summed it up best when he penned "the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry".

Despite all plans and schedules set in place, the Organising Committee intends undertake a review over the next few days regarding the inclusion of a LIVE AFL Grand Final replay screening into the official events of the 2010 Euro Cup. The AFL has just confirmed that the match will take place 06:30 Saturday 2nd October Milan local time.

Welcome Drinks event details

Clubhouse
As per Euro Cup tournament tradition, a welcome drinks event will be held Friday 1st October from 20:00 until the bar closes. The event is open to all teams, players, officials and supporters.

This years drinks will be held at the Parabiago Rugby Clubhouse, right in front of the main playing field.

That’s why as part of its push to strengthen football participation rates in the European markets, the AFL is also focusing on making sure there are enough trained umpires to keep matches under control.

Team Italy Women prepare for the Euro Cup

Seven months ago, the adventure of the Italian women's team commenced on a muddy field in Verona on a cold winters day.

Since that first training session, attended by five girls, much progress has been made in the development of women's footy in Italy and a number of new girls have been involved and became very passionate in their new sport.

Roma Blues first ever AFL Italia champions

The Roma Blues are today the toast of Australian Football in Italy in winning a closely contested Grand Final at the Capitolino Rugby field over arch-rivals and minor premiers, the Milano Aussie Rulers.

The match was played in sunny and warm 30 degree weather and in front of a crowd of 100 spectators and the Australian Ambassador to Italy, His excellency Mr. David Ritchie.

Call for umpires at the Euro Cup

The Euro Cup is the largest international 9-a-side tournament in the world and the umpires are a vital part of the tournaments successful operation.

This years Euro Cup is no different with an expected 50 matches over 3 fields simultaneously, and each match requiring 3 umpires. The umpiring requirements are always our greatest challenge.

An umpires workshop will be held on Friday 1st October at 16.00-19.00 at the Parabiago Rugby Clubhouse to assist umpires in preparing for the event.

History will be made at this years Euro Cup with a women's section taking place for the very first time. Furthermore, the first ever women's match at this years Euro Cup will be the first ever international women's match in Australian Football in Europe.

Host nation, Italy, and European powerhouse, Ireland, are expected to field full teams.

Euro Cup set for Parabiago (Milan), Italy

The 9-a-side Australian Football 2010 Euro Cup will be played in Parabiago on the outskirts of Milan on Saturday 2nd October 2010.

This years Euro Cup may attract as many as 15 European nations vying for the title of 9-a-side champions of Europe.

AFL Italia and the European Australian Football Association (EAFA) are proud to be hosting this years Euro Cup in Parabiago in Milan, Lombardy, Italy.

EAFA AGM conference centre confirmed

This years European Australian Football Association AGM and conference will be held in conjunction with the Euro Cup in Parabiago at the historic Villa Maggi-Corvini on Sunday 3rd October to Monday 4th October.

Attendance at the conference is by invitation for all national association Presidents or recognised board representatives.

AFL Italia will hold its first ever national league Grand Final in Rome on Saturday 4th September at 4pm.

Minor Premiers Milan Aussie Rules will face either the Genova Dockers or Rome Blues for the flag.

Elite AIS Academy team to Northern Italy in 2011

AIS
A squad of 30 AFL U16 and U18 players, lead by AFL Draft Manager Kevin Sheehan, will visit the AIS Euro Centre in Gavirate in the province of Varese Italy in April 2011.

The new Australian Sports Commission ran training centre is just 50 kms from Parabiago.

Under discussion and unconfirmed at this stage is the possibility of a game between the elite AIS Academy players and a European selection.
