Northern Territory Basketball Carnival - The Croc Challenge

Northern Territory Basketball Carnival - The Croc Challenge

Basketball NT, in partnership with its associations, are pleased to announce the introduction of a new basketball carnival for the Northern Territory.

Held at Easter the Northern Territory Basketball Carnival, to be known less formally, as the Croc Carnival will be a mass participation event, allowing anyone from the Territory and beyond to enter.

With a five on five, three on three, social, all abilities and mixed competition format options - there will be something available for everyone to play.

The competition schedule will include games and registration on Good Friday March 30, with a full day of play on Easter Saturday March 31, and Finals on Easter Sunday April 1.

The Northern Territory 3x3 official state competition will be held as part of the Carnival on Saturday evening, allowing teams to enter and the winner (male and female teams) will represent the NT at the National 3x3 Challenger Competition - where Basketball Australia will fly the teams from the NT to this next stage of national competition.

There will also be options for social teams to enter and play for a single day - just for fun, to either get a taste of basketball or return to basketball - or just because you want to get your mates together and play for a day.

Our all abilities competition will see teams from our Rising Stars program battle it out for a grand prize, while we will also have a family pool where families can enter a mum, dad, or uncle, grandparent or mate with their kids to see which Territory family has the best basketball pedigree - this open competition means siblings that are across different age groups to play together for the first time.

Individuals or groups smaller than an team, will also be able to register to play, and by nominating their preferred competition will be matched up with other players to form a team.

The venue for our first Croc Carnival will be the Darwin Basketball Stadium, where stalls, food and services will allow you to attend the Carnival with your family and friends and remain to watch the matches, participate in shooting competitions, outdoor scratch 3x3 matches and to access merchandise and equipment for the event.

The competition schedule, timing and entry guidelines will be released in early January - but now is the time to put this in your diary and start forming a team, no matter how you form your group - a team from the League competition, a group of mates across different divisions, a school group, a family, or as an individual there will be competition category that suits you.
