Tichborne Tigers claim 2013 Parkes Cup

'Tichborne Tigers have taken out the 2013 Parkes Cup with a dominate 6-0 win over Rawson Home Raptors at Harrison Park on Friday night, 3 goals to Tim Somers and 1 from Justin Ward cemented the victory for Tigers along with the 2 goals scored by Alec Bateson in the first half.

The first 10 minutes of the game however were dominated in possession by Rawson Home Raptros, however Raptors were unable to really put the Tigers defence under any pressure and were unable to capitalise being in the Tigers half of the pitch. It wasn't until the 13th minute that the first real shot in any anger came into the game which came from Tigers through Alec Bateson but the shot went well wide of the goals.

This brought life to the Tigers as they started to get into their grove and in the 16th minute they were able to break the deadlock through Alec Bateson who neatly opened the scoring. Tigers then had another chance in the 21st minute after a great cross was delivered into the area but the header went just wide.

Raptors got their first shot on goal in the 25th minute but the shot was well over the bar and was heading towards the forest in the BMX track. WIthin a minute Tigers then got through the Raptors defence with Alec Bateson scoring his second goal for the night. This would be Alec's last real involvement in the match after coming off the ground minutes later with a knee injury.

Raptors would of felt unlucky not to go to the half time break with a score line of 2-2 after having 2 great chances to score in the 32nd and 40th minutes, however the half time score remained 2-0 to Tigers.

The second half started of with Tigers attacking the Raptors goal straight from the whistle and in the 49th minute they made the score 3-0 when Tim Somers slotted away his first goal of the night. Just over 5 minutes later Tigers were able to score again this time it was through Justin Ward.

In the 59th minute the Raptors goal keeper pulled of a great save to prevent Tim Somers but only minutes later Somers slotter the ball into the back of the net again after a great corner was delivered into the mixed by Justin Ward making the score 5-0.

Entering into the final 30 minutes the pace of the game started to slow down and it wasn't until the 72nd minute that Tigers score again through Tim Somers who brought up his hat trick for the evening.

In the last 10 minutes of the match Tigers had the opportunity to add more goals to their tally but were upable to capitalise on the great opportunites that they created, this meant that the final score would finish 6-0 to Tigers in what was a very dominate perfomance by the men in Maroon and saw them lift the Parkes Cup for the 2nd year in a row.

Parkes & District Amateur Soccer Association Inc. would like to congratulate Tichborne Tigers on claiming the Parkes Cup for 2013.
