It’s great to see that in the 2017/18 year, NRL Touch Football participation grew!

The total participation number grew 11%, taking us to 679,156 participants across the country.

Junior and school numbers grew by 16%, to more than 460,000 participants.

Accredited volunteer numbers also grew, by 9% – to more than 15,000.

Unlike most sports, touch footy has an almost even gender split, with 48% females and 52% males.

It’s a multicultural sport, with 17% of participants identifying as something other than Australian, and 9.4% participants identifying as Indigenous.

In the 2017/18 year, 309 clubs ran NRL Touch Football competitions, and 18,232 teams took part.

A lot of people love touch footy because #everyonecanplay!

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
