Fast5 Tournament Wrap up

16 teams hit the courts over the weekend of 30th November/1st December to compete in the second Fast5 tournament held by Netball Wellington Centre

Heaps of fun was had by all with the music pumping all day and balloons all around and decorating the entry onto the courts

Each team played 3 games in the round-robin before competing in a semi-final and the winners in a final

Saturday was for the "Social" teams with 7 Mixed teams in 2 pools and 3 Womens teams

Mixed Pool 1 had the October tournament Social Mixed winners Hoorah, with I.V, Goldies & October tournament runner-up Netballers. Hoorah finished on top of the pool followed by Netballers, I.V. & Goldies

Mixed Pool 2 had Shorties, Team Hands Up & Squirts, with teams finishing the round-robin in that order

In the Social Womens grade newcomers NBH4L took top honours in the round-robin progressing straight through to the final, with HHF & One Hit Wonders playing in the semi-final. With both teams having played in the October tournament it was always going to be a close game and it didnt disappoint with HHF coming through 29-24 and booking a place in the final against NBH4L.

In the Mixed Major semi-finals Hoorah played Team Hands Up, and Netballers played Shorties with the winners progressing through to the final. In the end the experience of playing in the October tournament proved to be the difference with Hoorah and Netballers winning and preparing for a re-match of Octobers Mixed Final

The Mixed final was close right to the end and Hoorah just held on to win 20-19

Experience of playing in the October tournament again showed through in the Womens Final with HHF taking it out 27-17

Sunday was the turn of the 3 Competitive Mixed teams and 3 college teams

In the Competitive Mixed grade Blitz were always going to be the team to beat and they didnt disappoint winning all their games and progressing straight through to the final. The Troops and Easts Beasts contested the Semi-final with East Beasts winning 32-25 to move into the Final against Blitz

In the College grade ACJ (from Aotea College) won all their games to progress staright to the final with Marsden Fire and Marsden Marvels playing in the semi-final, with Marsden Fire blasting away to win 30-2.

In the finals both Blitz and ACJ proved too strong again winning their respective grades, Blitz by 38-23 and ACJ winning 25-14.

Our focus now turns to the Term 1 Fast5 competition, Fast5 Fridays starting on Friday 14th February and running for 9 weeks (finishing 11th April)
