2020 Rep Lead Coach applications

Netball Wellington Centre invites interested coaches to take up the opportunity to get involved with coaching our 2020 representative teams. 

We currently seek keen applicants for positions of Lead Coach. We encourage you to please have a good look over the job descriptions that interest you and thoroughly check the commitment dates listed before registering your interest.To apply, please complete the attached form, briefly outline your experience or provide a coaching CV and return all information to Netball Wellington Centre via email to admin@netballwellington.co.nz.

Positions within the Representative Team Management are a pathway opportunity for all coaches and managers wishing to further their coaching careers and for those wishing to give back to the netball community at Centre level.

Netball Wellington Centre welcome those who wish to take up the exciting opportunity to work alongside other experienced individuals. These positions are in a volunteer capacity however provide a fantastic opportunity to further develop yourself.  Travel and accommodation will be covered for each team management official to attend most away fixtures and tournaments. 

At present we seek keen applicants for the positions of Lead Coach for the following range of teams:

  •  Year 9 Team
  •  U16 1st Team (Black)
  •  U16 Development Team (Gold)
  •  U18 1st Team (Black) Position Filled
  •  U18 Development Team (Gold)
  •  Open Grade

Applications for Assistant Coach and Team Manager will open from January 2020.

Year 9 Representative Team - some dates are still to be confirmed, possibility for dates to be reviewed/added

Held at Hataitai Netball Courts. Potential for final trials to be held at ASB Sports Centre (TBC).

• Sunday 7th June 2020 –
Betty Steffensen Tournament held in Palmerston North
• Sunday 14th June 2020 –
WRC Year 9 & U15 Fixtures hosted by a Netball Hutt Valley
• Sunday 5th to Tuesday 7th July 2020 –  
Enviro WasteU16 North Island Championships held in New Plymouth (travel dates: depart midday Saturday 4th return late Tuesday 7th July)

traditionally held Sunday morning 10am-12pm and Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm at Hataitai Courts – some flexibility for change possible

Under 16 Representative Teams

held at Hataitai Netball Court.  Potential for final trial to be held at ASB Sports Centre (TBC).

Open Grade Representative Team
– some dates are still to be confirmed, possibility for dates to be reviewed/added

U19 Trials  Sunday 19th & Tuesday 21st July 2020 held at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington
• Sunday 16th August 2020 –
NWC  Open Grade  Invitational  Fixturesheld at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington
• Warm up match TBC with other Open teams prior to Nationals, date/s and venue TBC
• Monday 7th to Thursday 10th September 2020 (TBC) –
Netball New Zealand Open Champs Venue (TBC), (travel dates: depart Sunday 6th September, return Thursday 10th September).
Open Grade trainings
traditionally held Sunday mornings 10am –11.30am and Tuesday evenings 6pm–7.30pm at the ASB Sports Centre – some flexibility for change possible

  • Teamfundraising ventures to be confirmed during 2020
  • Observe Yr 9 & U16 players attending 2020 Pre-Season Development Programme at ASB (Term 1 – six weeks.  Starts Tuesday 11th February to Tuesday 17th March.Year 9 to Year 11 group 4.00pm to 6.00pm.
  • There will be the opportunity to observe these sessions and also contribute to the planning in consultation with Netball Wellington Centre.

  •  Consent to a police check being conducted for successful candidates.
  •  Make yourself available to attend meeting/s prior to and after representative team trials.
  •  Attend all trials and pre-trials selections to confirm player selection (if appointed Selector).
  •  Respond to requests from Netball Wellington Centre in a timely manner.

Applicants must also be open to attending a debrief interview/meeting at the end of the representative season.
