Seeking Asst Coach & Team Managers for 2017 NWC Rep Teams

Netball Wellington Centre invite interested coaches to take up the opportunity to get involved with coaching  and managing our 2017 representative teams. 

We currently seek keen applicants for positions of Assistant Coach & Team Manager.  We encourage you to please have a good look over the job descriptions that interest you and thoroughly check the commitment dates listed before registering your interest.  To apply, please complete the attached form, briefly outline your experience or provide a coaching/managing CV and return all information to Netball Wellington Centre via email to gm@netballwellington.co.nz or fax (04) 387 8309.

Positions within the Representative Team Management are a pathway opportunity for all coaches and managers wishing to further their coaching or managing careers and for those wishing to give back to the netball community at Centre level.

Netball Wellington Centre welcome those who wish to take up the exciting opportunity to work alongside other experienced individuals. These positions are in a volunteer capacity however provide a fantastic opportunity to further develop yourself.  Travel and accommodation will be covered for each team management official to attend most away fixtures and tournaments.

At present we have managed to fill some roles yet seek keen applicants for the positions of Assistant Coach for the following range of teams:

  • U15 2nd Team (Gold) for a one year period
  • U17 1st Team (Black) for a one year period
  • U19 Team for a one year period
    NB: Open Grade (19+) team managment role applications will open at a later stage in 2017.

At present we have managed to fill some roles yet seek keen applicants for the positions of Team Manager for the following range of teams:

  • U15 2nd Team (Gold) for a one year period
  • U17 1st Team (Black) for a one year period
  • U17 2nd Team (Gold) for a one year period

To assist with confirming your availability and give due consideration to time commitments prior to applying for any of the above roles, please find an indication of key commitments and dates for the 2017 NWC Representative Season provided below:

Year 9 Representative Team *new for 2017

• Year 9 Trials - Wednesday 5th, Sunday 9th & Wednesday 12th April 2017 held at Hataitai Courts.  Potential for final trial to be held at ASB Sports Centre (TBC)
• Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th June 2017  - Marjorie Jenden Tournament hosted by Netball Kapiti in Paraparaumu
• Sunday 11th June 2017 – Betty Steffensen Tournament held in Palmerston North
• Sunday 18th June 2017 – Netball Wanganui Combined Tournament held in Wanganui.  Not attended by 1st Team.  In the instance there is enough talent to select a second Year 9 team they may attend this tournament.
• Sunday 25th June 2017 - Molly Dorne Tournament held in Levin
• Sunday 9th to Tuesday 11th July 2017 – North Island U15 Championships held in New Plymouth (travel dates: depart Saturday 8th, return Tuesday 11th July)
Year 9 trainings traditionally held Sunday morning 10am-12pm and Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm at Hataitai Courts – some flexibility for change possible

U17 trainings traditionally held Sunday morning 10am-12pm and Tuesday evenings 6pm-8pm at Hataitai Courts – some flexibility for change possible

Under 19 Representative Team
some dates are still to be confirmed, possibility for dates to be reviewed/added
• U19 Trials Tuesday 2nd & Sunday 7th May 2017 held at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington
• Sunday 11th June 2017 – Betty Steffensen Tournament held in Palmerston North
• Sunday 18th June 2017 – NWC Invitational Fixtures held at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington
• Warm up match/es TBC with other U19 teams prior to Nationals, date/s and venue TBC
• Monday 10th to Thursday 13th July 2017 – Netball New Zealand U19 Age Group Tournament, venue ASB Sports Centre in Wellington (team enters tournament camp staying together from Sunday 9th July to Thursday 13th July).
U19 trainings traditionally held Sunday morning from 9.30am-11.00am and Tuesday evenings from 6.00pm-7.30pm at the ASB Sports Centre – some flexibility for change possible

Other possible rep team commitments:
• Gold Coin Days – Saturday 27th May & Saturday 24th June 2017 – collections at ASB Sports Centre venue. 

Further fundraising ventures to be confirmed during 2017
• Assistant Coach to aid Lead Coach with planning & facilitating  the Centre’s 2017 pre-season development sessions for potential trialists  in consultation with the Centre (Term 1 - dates TBC in consultation with successful candidate)
• Assistant Coach to aid Lead Coach with casual observation of Year 9 & Under 15 players attending 2017 Pre-Season Development Programme at ASB (Term 1 – six weeks) where able.  Starts Tuesday 14th February, ends Tuesday 21st March.  Year 9 group 4.30-5.30pm, Year 10&11 group 5.30 to 6.30pm.
• Casual observation/identification of potential U15/17/19 trialists during Saturday Winter Competition prior to and during trials where able.  Assistant Coach/Team Manager to bring players to the attention of Lead Coach for follow-up.

  • Consent to a police check being conducted for successful candidates.
  • Make yourself available to attend meeting/s prior to and after representative team trials.
  • Attend all trials and pre-trial dates to assist with conducting fair trials and player selection.
  • Respond to requests from Netball Wellington Centre in a timely manner.

Applicants must also be open to attending a debrief interview/meeting at the end of the representative season.
