The Netball Wellington Centre is offering a six-week Talent Development programme starting at the end of February aimed at those wishing to get a head-start on pre-season training especially leading up to the Centre and Satellite Representative Trials.  There are two programmes on offer – one held on Tuesdays catering to Year 7 & 8 players playing in Northern Suburbs, Wellington West and Motu Kairangi junior netball satellites and another held on Wednesdays for those moving on to college from Year 9 – 13.  Both Talent Development programmes cost $50 per player to attend and are taken by our 2010/11 Under 15 Representative Coach Olivia Webb who has a passion for young player’s skill development and promoting correct technique for injury prevention.  Sessions run from 4.30pm – 6.00pm rain or shine up at the Hataitai Netball Courts, 43 Ruahine Street, Hataitai.  Registrations close Monday 27^th February - access a registration form below and return it today to secure your spot!

 

 

TALENT DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR YEAR 7 & 8s

February - April 2012 

Are you thinking about trialling to play in the Year 7 or Year 8 representative teams for Northern Suburbs, Western Suburbs or Motu Kairangi this year?  Would you like a little help with some pre-season preparation and skill-work?  Are you keen to gain some more confidence and get motivated?

We aim to deliver a motivational programme that hopes to improve individual's skill and fitness and prepare young players for the higher standard of play expected if aiming to play for the representative teams withing the Wellington junior netball satellites. The six sessions aim to build confidence, fine-tune skills and revise basic skills ahead of the trials. Guidance shall also be incorporated on how to approach the game of netball by thinking and functioning as a representative-level athlete touching on basic health and nutrition, injury prevention and correct warm-up/cool-down techniques. Throughout the six-week programme, we shall work with participants to improve their individual performance by providing support and encouragement to work hard to reach their goals.  This programme is open to anyone in Year 7 & 8 as at the 1st of January 2012 and will be grouped according to skill wherever possible.

TALENT DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR YEAR 9, UNDER 15 AND UNDER 17s

Are you thinking about trialling to play in the Year 9, Under 15 or Under 17 representative teams for Netball Wellington Centre this year? Are you a skilled netballer who would like a little help with some pre-season preparation and skill-work? Are you keen to gain some more confidence and get motivated?

  

We aim to deliver a motivational programme with a particiular focus on improving individual skill and fitness as well as showing participants what the expectations and standards are if considering trialing for the Representative programmes at our Centre. The six sessions aim to expose players to that edge and higher level of performance required for a successful netball player prior to the Representative season and trials.  To complement the physical fitness training, guidance shall be incorporated on how to approach the game of netball by thinking and functioning as a higher potential athlete touching on basic health, nutrition, injury treatment/prevention and correct warm-up/cool-down techniques. Throughout the six-week programme, we shall work with participants to improve their individual performance by providing support, goal-setting and encouragement with training plans. This programme is open to anyone aged 13 – 17 years and shall be grouped according to skill. It should provide a perfect opportunity to get in some pre-season conditioning and preparation for the Year 9, Under 15 and Under 17 representative trials starting late April.
