In 2020 we aim to attract a large pool of talented players from which to select two strong open grade teams who will build towards competing at the NZ  Open Grade Champs held in Palmerston North in September.

Open Grade teams may be selected by each of the five Centres in the greater Wellington region made up of Netball Wellington Centre, Netball Hutt Valley Centre, Kapi Mana Netball Centre, Netball Kapiti and Netball Wairarapa. Team selection will depend on player availability and suitable skill level within each centre.  Trials provide a great experience for keen players - we strongly encourage all to put your name forward and give it your best shot.

Trials are held at the ASB Sports Centre, 72 Kemp Street, Kilbirnie in Wellington on the following two dates:
* Sunday 19th July 2020 from 10am-12pm
* Tuesday 21st July 2020 from 6pm-8pm

Trial eligibility:
* Trialists must be aged over 18 years of age as at 1st January 2020.
* Trialists must be currently registered, fully financial (all fees prior to 2020 paid up in full) and actively playing for a current school or club affiliated to the 2020 Netball Wellington Centre Winter Competition played on Saturdays at either the ASB Sports Centre or Hataitai Netball Courts.

Exception:
Following non-selection at their first choice of centre, individuals who are allowed to play Winter Competition within two netball centres (eg, school team vs club team) may decide to trial for their alternative netball centre of their own free will.  Dispensation is not required.

Dispensation:
Trialists are expected to trial for their current affiliated netball centre first and foremost.  If your Centre is not intending to select their own U19 rep team you are able to trial for another Centre provided you are first released to trial.  If wishing to request dispensation to be released to trial elsewhere you should approach your affiliated Centre to request a dispensation form.  Your Centre should then work with you to complete the necessary paperwork and provide a copy on your behalf to Netball Wellington Centre via email to admin@netballwellington.co.nz prior to our first trial date.

Players may self-nominate or coaches/sports coordinators/parents may nominate on behalf of the player with their consent.
Coaches - please advise players if you are nominating on their behalf so they know to attend trials.

Trial Nomination:
All Trialists must submit a nomination form prior to attending trials.
A nomination form must be submitted either by the trialist themselves or on behalf of the trialist prior to attending trials. A Coach or School Sports Coordinator can submit a nomination on behalf of the trialist so long as the trialist is aware and commits to attend trials.
Coaches/Sport Coordinators - please advise players if you are nominating on their behalf so they know to attend.

Inability to attend all trial dates:
We strongly recommend that trialists make every effort to make themselves available to attend BOTH trial dates in order to receive a fair trial.
Due consideration may be granted to those who indicate their unavailability upon submission of their representative trial nomination form upon provision of a valid reason for absence. Please therefore be sure to indicate any absences clearly using the NOTES field below so as not to unfairly disadvantage yourself.  In special circumstances where it is unavoidable to miss both trials a dispensation may be granted to those who provide valid reason - please enquire via email to admin@netballwellington.co.nz.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
