Coaching Courses in March - register now!

After a revitalising break you must be longing to get your head back in the game… well Coaches you’re in luck! To assist with preparation we have a number of pre-season courses to appeal to your needs.

Check out what’s on offer in February & March - something to suit all levels from beginner or casual interest to potential Community Coach Award and Performance Coach Award holders wishing to expand their skills.

Are you a coach who is keen to develop your netball coaching skills?  There are a range of Netball New Zealand coaching modules on offer throughout the Wellington region to allow you to make the most of your pre-season, mid-season and off-season.  Courses begin from February 2014 onwards.  Take a look at what's on offer and get yourself registered so as not to miss out. PLEASE NOTE: Coaches who have completed Player Centred Coaching (PCC) prior to Oct 2012 need to attend a PCC Update (first 1.5 hours of standard PCC module) prior to sign-off for any Awards.  Cost: $10.  Max 10 attendees.

 

March 2014

Monday Community Coach Award Series: SKILL ANALYSIS - 6.30pm to 9.00pm Monday 17th March.  This 2.5 hour course works through the biomechanics of netball movement and skill correction focusing on a constraints led approach to coaching. MY TEAM & ME - 6.30pm to 8.30pm Tuesday 18th March. 
This workshop is aimed at providing tools for Yr 7&8, secondary school and lower club level coaches to assist players of all ages to learn and develop. It should benefit teachers/parents with limited netball background and anyone coaxed from the side-line as a first-time coach or who may like a refresher. TEAM BUILDING - 9.00am to 11.30am Saturday 22nd March.  Cost: $25.
SKILL ANALYSIS - 12.00pm to 2.30pm Saturday 22nd March.  Cost: $25.
COMMUNICATION & MANAGING OTHERS - 3.00pm to 5.30pm Saturday 22nd March.  Cost: $25.
PLAYER CENTRED COACHING - 9.30am to 12.30pm Sunday 23rd March.  Cost: $25.
PLANNING - 1.00pm to 3.00pm Sunday 23rd March.  Cost: $25.

STARTING OUT IN COACHING - 6.30pm to 9.00pm Tuesday 25th March.  New to coaching and looking for fresh ideas? This mainly practical workshop provides opportunities for coaches to share ideas and learn more about leadership, planning, how to run training sessions during the season, structuring warm-ups, netball specific skill sessions, tactical components and also introduces TGfU (Teaching Games for Understanding). As part of the course fee, attendees receive an excellent COACHING TOOL KIT from Netball NZ (valued at $54).  Participants work together to familiarise themselves with their Toolkit resource, and facilitate TGfU activities from the toolkit that are relevant to their coaching communities. MENTAL SKILLS - 6.00pm to 8.45pm Thursday 27th March. 
This 2.5 hour course allows attendees to develop an understanding of basic mental skills and identify ways of applying principles to benefit player performance and enjoyment.Cost: $25.  Venue: Netball Wellington Centre Pavilion, 43 Ruahine Street, Hataitai - click to view map. Once registrations are open, please be sure to register promptly to avoid disappointment as courses require a minimum of 10 participants and are limited to 16 spaces - first in, best prepared!
