Beginner Coaching Workshops - Wed 23rd & Wed 30th May

Netball Wellington Centre are offering two fantastic beginner-level workshops for coaches...

My Little Team & Me held on Wednesday 23rd May from 6.30pm - 8.30pm aimed at primary school coaches and Fun or Future Ferns coaches. It should benefit Year 7 & 8 students coaching a lower age-group, teachers with limited netball-background, as well as parents who have been coaxed from the sideline to get involved with coaching for the first time or may be returning to the sport after a break.

My Team & Me held on Wednesday 30th May from 6.30pm - 8.30pm aimed at assisting Year 7 & 8, secondary school and lower club level coaches providing foundation tools to use in practices to help players of all ages learn and develop. It should benefit teachers and parents with limited netball-background and those who have been coaxed from the sideline to coach for the first time or may like a refresher.

Each workshop offers a great way to get in “coach mode” in preparation for the season ahead. Attendees are provided with a thorough resource to keep and refer to throughout the season.  Working through the resource together, attendees get a chance to refresh their practical understanding of key netball terms and learn skills and drills used to teach the fundamental basic skills including warm-up activities, body balance, movement, passing & catching, attack, defence, on-court space, and the centre pass.  The workshop also touches on basic coaching philosophy with regards to playing positions, rotating players, and keeping track of player’s court-time and attendance.

If keen to enter, please complete and return the registration form via email to nda@netballwellington.co.nz or fax to (04) 387 7461.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
