Netball Central are excited announce the next in their Fill Your Kete sessions.  Coaches of all levels and experience are most welcome to attend these workshops with a strong practical focus to enjoy learning technique and theory in a relaxed informal environment from one of the best!

Waimarama Taumaunu ONZM MBE made her debut for the Silver Ferns in 1981 as a wing attack before going on to leave an indelible mark on the international game as a defender.  She mastered her craft and went on to become assistant coach of the Silver Ferns in 2008 before moving on to the head coach role from 2011 to 2015. Waimarama is regarded as one of the world’s best defence players and coaches having debuted for the Silver Ferns in 1981 and playing more than 70 international matches over a period of ten years. She currently works for the Netball Central Zone as High Performance Director as well as a specialist coach role for the Central Pulse netball team.

Waimarama's Workshop #1 will explore the elements of defence over the ball and 3 foot mark, defence of the shot and rebounding along with centre pass defence. 

Workshop #2 will explore the principles of space marking on defence and how this can create turnover opportunities.  This workshop will assist coaches to understand the key principles for space marking on defence and how players can use body position, speed and deception to gain intercepts and turnovers for their team. A great learning opportunity for coaches of all levels.

The two workshops are aimed to complement each therefore content will vary between both workshops and vary vastly from Yvonne Willering's workshop held earlier in the year.  Therefore can be attended as stand-alone workshops or in tandem to encourage a really solid grasp of successful defence tactics.
