Tiana Metuarau presented Emerging Sportswoman of the Year Award

Congratulations to Tiana Metuarau (Central Pulse/Wellington East Girls' College) who continues to achieve great things in the netball world.

Tiana's most recent recognition was bestowed on Wednesday 14th June when presented with the Wellington City Council Emerging Sportwoman of the Year Award as part of the Wellington Hospitality Group Sportsperson of the Year Awards 2017.  We extend thanks to one of her early representative coaches Rita Aiono who was present on the night to accept the award on Tiana's behalf while she upheld her Central Pulse playing commitments.

Tiana was joined by a number of outstanding sportswomen selected as finalists in contention for the award including Pallas Potter (Softball), Danielle Watson (Canoe Sprint) and Chelsey Edwards (Swimming).

Netball Wellington Centre is honoured to have nominated Tiana for this award and not only see her named as a finalist but to win the overall Emerging Sportswoman of the Year Award.  Such an honour.  You have done yourself, the Centre and the Zone proud. You are a true inspiration to many of our young players and are leading the way for more of our youngsters who are willing to put in the hours of dedication and commitment towards their netball like you have and still continue to do.

A very worthy accolade for a very hard-working individual - we applaud you and your steady development and growth as a netballer with a bright and exciting future ahead of you.
