Beginner Coach Workshop

This workshop has been arranged by Netball Central Zone as a follow-up to the Student Coaching Day organised by College Sport Wellington and Sport Wellington held at the ASB Sports Centre in early April this year.  In an effort to provide further support to student coaches within Wellington City we encourage you to take up this additional opportunity for further training tips and ideas to help keep your trainings fun and engaging.  This workshop is highly valuable and for this reason has been opened up for all coaches to benefit from attending.

My Team & Me is a practical and theory-based workshop aimed at assisting Year 7 & 8, secondary school and club coaches providing foundation tools to use in practices to help players of all ages learn and develop.  It should benefit teachers, students and parents with limited netball-background, those who have been coaxed from the side-line to coach for the first time or may like a refresher.

Time:   3.30pm to 5.30pm
Venue: Hataitai Netball Pavilion, 43 Ruahine St, Hataitai
Cost:    FREE for all secondary school student coaches.  
            $25 for all other coaches. 
            Includes handy resource to take with you for use throughout your season.
Priority given to secondary school coaches yet open to all.

Attendees are provided with a thorough resource to keep and refer to throughout the season.  Working through the resource together, attendees get a chance to refresh their practical understanding of key netball terms and learn skills and drills used to teach the fundamental basic skills including warm-up activities, body balance, movement, passing & catching, attack, defence, on-court space, and the centre pass.  The workshop also touches on basic coaching philosophy with regards to playing positions, rotating players, and keeping track of player’s court-time and attendance.

This is a fantastic workshop will  elp get your feet under you this season and can provide some fresh ideas to those seeking them!
