Netball Central Zone to Host Super Weekend of Netball

Netball Central Zone (NCZ), with the support of Netball Manawatu, will host a ‘Super’ weekend of netball at the B&M Centre at Arena Manawatu, featuring over 22 top teams invited from both clubs and schools from the zone.

This is the second year that the NCZ Super Club Invitational Tournament will be held, but this year the weekend sees the addition of a Super School Invitational Tournament.

The Super School line-up consists of 14 teams who featured in the top 20 schools in the Lower North Island Secondary School (LNISS) tournament last year, including Manukura and Wellington Girls’ College.

Meanwhile, runners up Rampage Tysons from Taranaki will return to challenge the current Wellington Regional champions, PIC, who will be competing to retain their inaugural Super Club title.

The tournament involves all the lead centre areas throughout the Netball Central Zone, providing the players with an opportunity to prepare them for the 2015 netball season. New Zealand Umpire Development Group (NZUDG) members will also be using the event as a chance to screen umpires for upcoming national events, as well as providing bench officials with a pre-season training opportunity.

NCZ Community Netball Manager, Liz Page is delighted that the Zone has a competitive opportunity in its preparation for the 2015 season. “The two tournaments provide teams, umpires and bench officials with excellent preparation heading into this season,” she explained. “They also showcase some of the top netball talent from both clubs and schools across the Zone.”

The Super Club Invitational Tournament will take place on Saturday 14 March, followed by the Super School Invitational Tournament on Sunday 15 March. Both tournaments will take place at the B & M Centre, Arena Manawatu between 10.00am and 6.00pm.
