Congratulations to Whitney Souness who is the only player from the Central Zone to be named as part of the 2014 NZ U21 Development Programme.

Netball NZ selectors have observed and tracked players throughout this year and identified her as one of 11 stand-out players who have demonstrated the talent & skill to develop successful careers in netball.

NZ  U21 Development Squad Announced

Netball New Zealand are pleased to announce a squad of 11 players as part of the NZU21 Development Programme.

With the end of the current four year cycle for this age group now complete, culminating with the recent World Youth Championships win in Scotland, the programme is in a development phase focusing on player support and development.

This includes individual performance plans, coaching support and access to support services through Netball New Zealand to assist the players’ development and preparation for the 2014 season ahead and beyond.

NNZ selectors have been attending Netball tournaments throughout New Zealand all year to observe and track players and have identified this exciting group of talented athletes.

NNZ High Performance Programme Director Lynette Grace said the selected athletes all deserve their selection in the NZU21 Development Squad.

“All eleven players have stood out over the past 12 months and have demonstrated the talent and skill to develop successful netball careers,” Grace said.

“We’re delighted to be able to offer them the support they need to take their Netball to the next level and build towards the future.”
