HAWKS RE-APPOINT JACKSON & NIX for 2016

Craig (CJ ) Jackson and Charles Nix have both been re-appointed as 2016 Lady Hawks and Men’s State League coaches respectively.

Both coaches have been at the helm of their team’s since 2013 and in 2015 both teams finished off in the playoffs, bowing out after the quarter finals.

The Club is keen to continue the SBL teams rise up the ladders and the re-appointment of both coaches is a further step in achieving this goal.

CJ has a young team but will welcome the return of Captain Kate Anthony who sat all of 2015 out recovering from a knee reconstruction. Megan McKay has joined St Mary’s to play College basketball but is expected to return in May to re-join the team. Last year’s Lady Hawks MVP -Danika Pisconeri has been forced into early retirement due to an on-going back injury. Danika joined the Hawks in 2015 and was a strong influence on the court, culminating in her being awarded the season MVP. Her rebounding during games and her leadership on the court will be sorely missed. The Club wishes Danika all the very best in her ‘retirement’ and look forward to having her around the Club in another capacity.

The Club will soon be announcing two keys signings to the Lady Hawks team – so watch this space.

After his re-appointment, Coach Nix said: “I’m extremely happy and honoured to be re-appointed as Men’s Coach at the Perry Lakes Hawks. We are excited about the season ahead with preparations in full swing. After a promising finish to last season the desire to work hard and improve is evident amongst our guys.”

“The core group have returned with a real fire in their bellies, understanding that with hard work and commitment to the process, we can be an elite team in the SBL”.
