Pictured: Harry Petty at the 2016 Under 17 State Championships, representing EP/Norwood
Congratulations to Harry Petty who is selected to play in a key defensive role against Western Australia at Domain Stadium Perth - Saturday 10 June 2017. This is the start of the AFL U18 National Championships.
Harry is able to play in key forward and defensive roles, and is an excellent ruck option, providing first use to on ballers around him. He formed a great partnership with Wirrulla's Mitchell Gum through junior representative levels, Eyre Peninsula/ Norwood Under 17 winning the past two carnivals, and both more recently at Rostrevor College. Harry represents Norwood SANFL Under 18 whenever not playing at Rostrevor College. He has enjoyed a wonderful season culminating in this State level selection. Originally from Wudinna United, where he played in two junior premiership sides, and an A Grade debut in 2014 aged 14.
A very strong family sporting stable, that includes Hannah Petty (sister) who plays in the Australian Suncorp Super Netball League with Adelaide Thunderbirds, and Graham Sampson (grandfather) 4 x Mail Medalist and 4 x Mortlock Shield Bampton Medalist (B & F of Carnival).
Best wishes are extended to Harry for this match and the remainder of the Carnival. This is an outstanding achievement.

SANFL NEWS Release 8 June 2017
The McDonald’s SA Under-18 team will be close to full strength for its first match of the AFL National Championships in Perth on Saturday.
Coached by SANFL High Performance Manager Brenton Phillips, the Croweaters will only be missing joint vice-captain Andrew McPherson, who is still overcoming a quad strain.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, Phillips said McPherson was likely to miss SA’s only home match on June 17 before setting himself for the final two matches against Victoria Metro and Victoria Country across the border.
Macca’s League experienced trio Darcy Fogarty, Alex Martini and Mitch Crowden have been named to start in a powerful centre square combination while SA captain Callum Coleman-Jones will start at the goalfront before sharing the ruck duties with Ruben Flinn.
South Australia will fly out with a squad of 23 on Friday, with two players to be cut from the 25-player list named on Thursday.
As many as five under-age players could face the Sandgropers with Izak Rankine to use his pace on the wing, Flinn primed to ruck, Jack Lukosius playing at centre-half forward and Connor Rozee and Jackson Hately on the extended interchange bench.
