TEN TO TEST AT AFL COMBINE

Congratulations to Alex Villis and Kym Le Bois upon receiving invitations to the AFL Draft Combine in Melbourne. Both players represented South Australia at the recent National Under 18 Championships, Alex was honoured with All Australian Team selection.
Alex originates from Eastern Ranges FC (EEFL), presently with Norwood in the SANFL, and Kym originates from Koonibba FC (FWFL), presently with North Adelaide in the SANFL.

South Australia will have 10 players attend the AFL Draft Combine in Melbourne from Thursday October 6 through to Sunday October 9.
Led by 2016 Larke Medallist and McDoanld’s SA Under-18 captain Jack Graham, the Croweaters will also be represented by All-Australians Jonty Scharenberg, Brennan Cox, Sam Walker and Alex Villis.
Wingman Villis, who broke the fibula in his leg playing at League level for Norwood in Round 16, is hopeful of being fit to participate in physical testing.
Crows father-son prospect Ben Jarman, who has been playing with North Adelaide’s Reserves this month, will also put his talent on display.
Classy indigenous small forwards Kym LeBois and Tyson Stengle have been invited, as has Glenelg defender Mitch Hinge and medium-sized North goalsneak Will Hayward.
To be invited to the AFL Draft Combine, players must receive at least five expressions of interest from AFL clubs, with a total of 80 players attending in 2016.
A further 100 players will be tested at State-Based AFL Draft Combines across Australia, with those invited to the South Australian version receiving at least two expressions of interest.
Players are tested both physically and mentally, with the physical aspect including a medical screening, sprint and endurance tests as well as undertaking drills to assess a player’s football skills.
AFL clubs also gain an insight into the personality and character of players by conducting interviews led by their recruiting and coaching staff.
