Reserves Wirrulla v Wudinna United
Interesting match up here, two clubs that don’t have the issue of A Grade finals to consider, so will enjoy the same selection benefits that go with this. Wirrulla dominated the season, only losing one match on the oval, with the other a forfeit, Wudinna United going through a topsy turvy ride, rising from fourth to get to this match. The Magpies have a home ground which will assist.
On the season, The Bombers hold sway, winning each match by 48, 12 and 46 points. Generally the first halves have been close and the better drilled Wirrulla moving away in the second half.
For the Bombers, pretty much full strength and pleasant selection dilemmas for experienced coach Andrew Patterson, hard work though, as some will miss out. Big scoring options for Wirrulla, Rob Marshall, Shane Pittaway, Troy Olsen, Lynton Pym, unlikely that they can all be held. Around the middle Saul Webb, Shaun Kelsall, Vin Blumson and Ollie Mc Callum will see lots of feed forward. I defensive roles evergreen Judd Evans, Chad Guelfi and Sheridan Roe are all in outstanding form. Add Ben and Daryl Lawrie and a host of young runners, the Bombers are well set.
Magpies will welcome back David Moyse. Coach Graham Walters has the biggest list that he has had available all year. Kym and Liam Tree are skilled and reliable; Tom DuBois is a beacon of strength. Greg Barns and Stefan Wilkins both key forwards and sharp shooters. Major ball winners include Scott Williams, Zane Petty, Craig Brands and Ryan Cummings. Chris Foster and Kev Cummings loom as threats to the Bombers also
Wirrulla found themselves in a similar position last year, falling away at the final hurdle, but they look stronger again this year. They just appear to have too many scoring options to cover and should lift the cup at 2.20pm, Wudinna United will be strongly competitive.
