WHO CAN TRAIN WITH US?
We welcome anyone, whether you have played AFL before or not, to come and train with us. Our training is aimed at building health and fitness and AFL skills.
WHEN DO WE TRAIN?
We train every Wednesday night from 6.30pm - 8.00pm at Akuna Oval, 67 Hepworth Street, Chapel Hill 4069.
WHAT DO I NEED?
You just need to supply a comfortable set of footy boots, a nickname (we will make one up for you if you don't have one) and a willingness to have fun.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
2017 annual membership fees total $350 and they must be paid before any players gear is distributed and before the first game of the year.
We are flexible as to how you pay, as everyone has different circumstances, just talk to us!
WHAT DO I GET FOR MY MONEY?
New players to the club receive a Team Polo, Socks, Shirts, Footybag and Stubby Cooler, you also get a cover of Personal Injury Insurance (see website menu for full details of coverage). Returning players receive a Team Polo, Socks and Shorts.
Fees also cover, ground fees, umpire and first aid fees MAFQ fees and end of year presentation night.
HOW MANY GAMES DO WE PLAY IN A YEAR?
At the moment the competition has twelve rounds played every second weekend from April to September. Games are played all around South East Queensland with teams as far away as Maroochydore and Coolangatta.
HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?
We take anyone at any level, though we reccomend a few things:
Fitness - we really do reccomend you do some core strength excersisie to ensure your back is up to it
Stretching - if you haven't been doing regular exercise lately, we recommend you learn to properly stretch your body. Most first year players have problems with calves, quads, hamstrings and back - so you need to ease into the year and start training ASAP!
WHAT NEXT?
Fill out the New Member form by clicking this link (NEW MEMBER ENQUIRY FORM) we will add you to our email list and remind you when training is due to start - if you change your mind - it doesn't matter - BUT give it a go - we really are a very friendly bunch of guys who don't care if you can kick straight or not - we just love having fun! If you wish to join the club you must also complete the MAFQ and Souths Registration. See the Sharks Notice Board to the right hand side on the Souths website for more information.
