Representative Season 2010
Dianna El-Tahche –
This is Dianna’s 2nd year involved with Rep Basketball at St George. Dianna started out the 2010 season refereeing our home games, but quickly filled the role of Referee Coach. Dianna’s commitment to coaching and eagerness to learn was recognised by Basketball NSW, and earned her invitation to the Semi Finals weekend where she was a coach at the 12 and 14’s Women’s Semi and Preliminary Finals.
Zachery Preece –
This is Zac’s first year of refereeing Reps. Although he managed to end up in hospital halfway through the season with an emergency appendicitis he still managed to qualify for Semi Finals and was selected for the 12 Women’s Division 2 Semi Final.
Luke Pazanin –
This is Luke’s 1st season of refereeing Reps also. Luke was selected by Basketball NSW to referee the 12 Men’s Division 3 Semi Final. And went on to be a reserve referee during the Rep finals for the 12 and 14’s age groups. He was selected to referee at the State Cup Tournament, where he went on to Ref the 12 Mens Group B games.
Matt Suann –
Matt is new to the St George Association this year. Phenomenally, Matt qualified for semi-finals with 14 games spread across 5 associations. Well done Matt – that’s amazing commitment. Matt was selected to officiate the 14 Women’s Division 2 Semi and Preliminary Finals. And then went on to referee in the 12 Women’s Division 2 Grand Final. Matt was also invited by Basketball NSW to participate in both the State Cup Tournament, and also the State Championship Tournament, where he refereeed the 12 Men’s competition. A fabulous achievement!
Ross Miller –
Not only was Ross selected for a Rep Semi Final and Grand Final, and then invited to the State Championship Tournament, but he was also selected to be a member of the State Referee Development Program, a prestigious achievement of its own. St George has now had 2 referees selected to the State Program in the last 2 years.
Byron Geddes –
This is Byron’s 2nd year of refereeing Reps for St George. Qualifying for finals also, Byron was selected to officiate the 14 Women’s Division 1 Semi Final, and the 14 Women’s Division 2 Preliminary Final. Byron was then invited to referee in the 14 Women’s Division 2 Grand Final. Furthermore Byron was invited by Basketball NSW to participate in the State Championship Round 2 tournament. Byron also maintained his Membership in the State Referee Development Program with attendance at other State and National Tournaments over the course of the year. A lot of hard work and commitment!
I would also like to thank Anna for all her efforts over the season. I cannot even begin to calculate the hours you must have spent on the phone confirming referees or finding back-ups at the last minute. You certainly held the Referee Team together and I’m not sure how you managed all your other Rep commitments as this Team is a full time job in itself!
