LANCASTER v NAGAMBIE
Lancaster will look to continue its winning form when it hosts the reining premier.
The Wombats have slipped under the radar to be one of the leading teams.
They currently sit third and coach Nick Bertoli knows that they will need to play their very best football to be any chance of upsetting the Lakers.
Bertoli will remind the players of what they did well in the come-from-behind win against Murchison-Toolamba last weekend.
Jack Donnell has been one of the key players for the Wombats in their two narrow wins in the past fornight.
The likes of Chris Eddy, Alex Kidd, Michael Orr, Besim Besim and Rikki Busch will all need to play well for the Wombats to be in the game in the last quarter.
Nagambie will be wary of the Wombats and the likes of Michael Roberts, Kyle Winter-Irving, Nathan Fothergill, Daniel Haysom, Anthony Haysom and Ben Hutton will be pivotal to ensure the Lakers get the points and maintain its position at the top of the ladder.
Tip: Nagambie
GIRGARRE v AVENEL
Girgarre’s finals aspirations will go on the line today against last year’s runner up.
After a fantastic start to the year, the kangaroos have dropped out of the top 6 after 3 straight losses.
On the other hand Avenel has jumped into the top 6 after 5 straight wins and will be full of confidence that they can make it 6 wins.
This is a game Girgarre can ill-afford to lose and it will take a team effort lead by Thomas Walsh, Jayden Tucker, Jake Hyland, Brenton Bassett, Nicholas Mellington and Simon Tomasini for them to get back on track.
Avenel has been dominating its opponents in recent weeks with players such as Andrew Green, Nicholas Goodwin, Donald Stirling, Benjamin Quick, Scott Tyers and Cael McCarthy being the key contributors.
These players will be pivotal in ensuring that Avenel walk away with the 4 points.
Tip: Avenel
RUSHWORTH v STANHOPE
Stanhope will be searching for its fourth consecutive win when it travels to take on its arch rival today.
The Tigers have been out of form having lost their past 5 matches.
Coach Jason Hucker will be desperate for his Tigers to re-discover the early season form to have any chance of upsetting the Lions.
The playing coach will be hoping the likes of Billy Wall, Jayden Smith, Robert Osborne, Daniel Lambden and Jacob Perry can bring their good form from last week’s match into today’s contest.
The Lions had a comfortable win last weekend and the likes of James Fraser, Ryan Emmett, Jack Exell, Adam Auld, Tim Somerville and Jesse Olsen will be important to ensure the Lions don’t slip up today.
Tip: Stanhope
UNDERA v MERRIGUM
Undera will be desperate to put up a better performance for interim coach Danni Heazlewood.
The Lions were poor against Stanhope last week only registering 1 goal.
Merrigum returned to the winners list last weekend and it will be eager to restrict Undera to another low score.
The Lions will look to Keelan Mitchell, Nathan Frizzell, Matt Wishart, Jarrod Zerbato and Brandon White to dish up a more competitive performance.
Merrigan will be out to score another big win to keep its slim finals aspirations alive and the likes of Jake Ross, Rohan Hearn, Charlie Lowe, Mitchell Younger, David Matthews and Robert Knowles will be the key players.
Tip: Merrigum
LONGWOOD v VIOLET TOWN
Longwood will be up against it when it hosts its neighbouring rival and one of this year’s premiership chances.
The Red Legs were competitive at times during last week’s defeat to the Bulldogs but it will find it much tougher today against one of the big scoring teams in the competition.
Braydon Kearns, Samuel Scott, Lucas Foenander, Jack Myers, Ricky Ahearn and Daniel Robinson were the shining lights in last week’s lose and they will again need to fire for the home team to be competitive today.
On the other hand key forward Robert Staff will be looking to kick another bag of goals and to do so will need to get support and the delivery from the likes of Jon Woodcock, Sean Horsburgh, Chris McKay, Ash Hobbs, and Jake Cowman.
Tip: Violet Town
