Call-up a possibility after promsing form in VFLSEVEN goals in two games has enhanced the prospects of Melbourne's Yuendumu recruit Liam Jurrah of an AFL call-up, according to the Warlpiri man's VFL coach.
Jurrah led the goal-kicking for the Demons' VFL affiliate Casey Scorpions at the weekend with four goals against Werribee, on the back of his three goals against Geelong in the previous round.
Scorpions coach, Peter German, who had built WAFL club Subiaco into a premiership powerhouse, says if Jurrah (pictured) can maintain his form he could be in with a shot to play for Melbourne.
"Liam's really starting to come on in leaps and bounds and if he continues his development, he's a strong chance of playing senior AFL footy down the track," German to MelbourneFC.com.au.
"(But) that depends on where (Melbourne coach) Dean Bailey sees the side."
Jurrah was one of Casey's best players against the Tigers. He ran to space, chased and was composed in attack. He had 13 possessions (10 kicks, three handballs), took five marks and laid three tackles.
The 20-year-old was the first pick in last year's (December's) pre-season draft.
This season is Jurrah's second stint in Melbourne after having a half-season with Collingwood in the VFL last year.
