AFL trade week sees Lion become a Magpie
ANTHONY CORRIE will make the second biggest shift of his life to another major city after being traded from Brisbane to Collingwood today.
The 53-game AFL player, originally from Darwin, was swapped for selection number 93 in a trade no-one saw coming.
His trade was one of only a handful of completed trades on the last day of AFL trade week.
The NTFL Southern Districts and Nightcliff product returned strongly from a knee reconstruction this year and played in 20 of a possible 22 games for the Lions.
The trade to Collingwood ends a blossoming on-field, forward line relationship Corrie, 24, had developed with emerging small forward, Rhan Hooper, at the Lions.
It also ends a mixed four-year stay at Brisbane where a strong start was interrupted by a serious knee injury and a season-long lay-off in 2007 and a three-month recovery period for a broken finger in his debut season. Corrie also broke his jaw when he collided with an Essendon player in a game in Melbourne.
The number 93 pick in November's draft is a rarely used sixth-round selection.
Lovett still a Bomber ... for now
WEEK-long speculation as to Andrew Lovett departing Essendon has come to nought with the 25-year-old flying wingman staying put at Windy Hill.
Lovett was linked to Sydney then Geelong and even West Coast and Fremantle during AFL trade week but no club was willing to part with Essendon's request for a first round draft pick.
Lovett, 25 (26 next month), has a year to run on his contract with Essendon.
