WABL Zero Tolerance Behaviour Policy

Dear Parents and Coaches

Welcome to the 2020 WABL season.

The PBA WABL Committee is excited about creating another year of exceptional development opportunities for our players, coaches and officials in a positive, family-oriented environment.

Before we can get on with the fun stuff, however, we do need to get serious for a second.

The WABL Committee, our coaches and our team managers are volunteers, all of whom are committing significant time and energy to the betterment of our WABL program and our club as a whole. As volunteers, we cannot afford for an unreasonable amount of time and energy to be spent on managing adverse behaviours in our club.

As a club, the Perth Redbacks fully supports the Zero-Tolerance Policy of BWA, and this year the WABL Committee and Board will be focussed on ensuring that everyone in our club is aware and respects this policy.

ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY

All participants involved in Perth Redbacks WABL competition must accept responsibility for their behaviour.

Perth Redbacks reserves the right to ask any coach, manager, player, parent or spectator to immediately leave the venue should they;

  • Wilfully question or challenge the rulings of the referees
  • Berate or abuse referees
  • Berate or abuse players
  • Wilfully question or challenge the coach or team manager in public
  • Wilfully question or challenge the score bench or officials
  • Berate or abuse other parents or spectators
  • Display conduct which is inappropriate in a sporting environment or is clearly making others uncomfortable

No warnings will be given in the event of the above action becoming necessary.

Any such ejection or failure to leave the venue will be referred to Perth Redbacks Board which may result in further formal actions being put in place.

The adoption of this Zero-Tolerance policy is essential in our club as we nurture a safe competitive environment for all participants in a fun and positive family atmosphere.

We ask all of our Redbacks family to enthusiastically support our family-friendly environment with support for Zero Tolerance and as such we ask all of the Redbacks family to not tolerate adverse behaviours of those around them.

To our players, we look forward to seeing you demonstrating the Redbacks Spirit during games and having great fun with your WABL friends.

To our spectators and parents, we ask that you cheer the players when they do something great and encourage when they miss shots and make mistakes. We encourage you to take the time to thank your coaches and team managers. We ask you to understand and accept that the referees are not perfect and will make mistakes as they too are learning.

To our coaches and managers, we ask that you lead the way in exemplifying the behaviour we wish everyone involved in our WABL program to display.

All the best to our teams as the 2020 WABL season gets under way.
