Redbacks’ Teams Remain in WABL Finals

Results went the Daimler Trucks’ Redbacks way with the Redbacks’ Western Australian Basketball teams winning four of their six playoff games in today’s elimination and qualifying rounds.

The under 13 men’s team coached by Michael Romero won their elimination final against the Wanneroo Wolves 51 to 43. This means that they now progress to the semi-final round next week.

The under 13 women’s team coached by Jayne Armstrong won their elimination final against the Kalamunda Eastern suns 45 to 38. This is a dramatic improvement by this team that only one three games through the entire season 2012 to this year where they have now progressed to the semi-final round.

The under 14 women’s team that is coached by Anthony Nixon lost their qualifying final to the tough Perry Lakes Hawks 33 to 71. However, they remain alive in the playoffs as they finished second in their conference and go through to the semi-final round.

The under 14 men’s team, coached by Jarrad Prior, had their first loss of the year in the qualifying final against the Wanneroo wolves 43 to 50. This is after having made a clean sweep of wins in the regular season with 16 wins and no losses. However, they are still alive and well and truly a force in the playoffs in the semi-final round next week.

The D-League men’s team, coached by Wade Horwood, had a strong 79 to 67 win in their elimination final against the Perry Lakes Hawks. They now progress to the semi-final round.

Coach Jayne Armstrong continued her winning day when the second team she coaches, the women’s D-League team, had a strong 62 to 56 win against the Perry Lakes Hawks. They will now proceed to the semi-final round.

The semi-final round of fixtures will all be held at the WA Basketball Centre on Sunday 22 September. Keep an eye on this website for details of the time and court that each team will be playing.
