Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks’ WABL Wrap Round 10

The Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks’ Western Australian Basketball League teams had a ‘tough day at the office’ in their round 10 away fixture against the Willetton Tigers, winning three and losing 16 games.

Under 16 Giordano Monteleone was the highest scorer of the Redbacks’ men’s teams with 27 while under 12 Kyle Bowen had 22 and Development League player Dale Eliott 18.

Under 18 Jessica Hughes was the highest Redbacks’ women’s scorer with 36 while under 12 Emily Nixon continued her season long high scores with 23 and Development League player Jessica Jakens had 17.

The Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks under 12 men got the day off to a good start with a 68 to 56 win over the Willetton Tigers. Luke Simonette scored 16, Zacary Chedin two, Nick Biancuzzo one, Jordan Ridgen four, Joshua Armstrong two, Kyle Bowen 22, Jack Tognolini six and Jordon Herbert fifteen. They now have six wins and four losses and are in third-place in the six-team northern conference.

The under 12 women are in second place in the five-team conference with four wins and five losses after their 37 to 71 loss to the Tigers. Emily Nixon scored 23, Nicola Kastropil two, Melissa Hughes one, Lauren Thompson two, Noor Soliman one, Savahna Neville two and Sophie Pyne six.

The under 13 men’s team lost 32 to 49, which sees them in sixth-conference place with two wins and eight losses. Mitchell Parker scored six, Reece Hewitt eight, Braedin Goodson one, Nazir Hashem two, Mitchell Matrenza one, Ryan Bride 11 and Jack Collard two.

The under 13 women’s team is in fourth conference place with one win and eight losses after their 17 to 74 loss to the Tigers. Chloe Smith scored nine, Kai Wineera five, Paige Fleming one and Emma Bowen two.

The under 14 men lost 38 to 59. Connor Jansen scored two, Jared Pedersen five, Nicholas Ramsay two, Stephen Pover two, Adam Parora 12, Daniel Skelton two and Zac Huxley 13. They have eight wins and two losses and are in second conference place out of six teams.

The under 14 women lost 19 to 86. This sees them with one win and eight losses and are in fourth conference place out of five teams. Keziah Bin Sali scored four, Emily Capstick one, Ashtyn Mason five, Gabriella Pyne two, Tayla Naudi three and Shannyn Pomversbach two.

The under 15 men’s team lost 53 to 102. Matthew Biletic scored 13, Jeet Mann 10, Sean Jakens seven, Fraser Rose four, Mitchell Steacy six, Jack Wagner four, Kevin Tingyendu six and Jack Lowes two. They are in fourth conference place with five wins and five losses.

Despite their 39 to 76 loss to the tough Tigers outfit, who are sitting in second-place in their conference, it is noticeable that the under 15 Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks’ women’s team is continuing to show constant improvement. They are starting to put together a steady run of higher scores with each game, which will inevitably pay dividends later in the year or in the years to come. Sarah Gunn scored four, Alison Mckelvie one, Breanna Goodson five, Lainey Stewart eight, Michelle Curro five, Kyra law four, Rebecca Sampson nine and Emily Hughes three.

The under 16 Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks men’s team had a strong 68 to 60 win over the Tigers. Jarrett Donker scored four, Clint Jansen two, Beau Chaplin 18, Julian Nelthorpe two, Giordano Monteleone 27 and Jacob Marr 12. They now have seven wins and three losses and are in third conference place out of six teams.

The under 16 Redbacks’ women lost 36 to 82. Samantha Tognolini scored six, Rachael Goodger six, Taylah Mason three, Tereasa Maines 14, Tayla Goodson two and Alicia Matrenza four. They have one win and nine losses and are in fifth conference place out of six teams.

The under 18 division two men’s team now has one win and six losses and is in fifth conference place out of six teams after their 52 to 77 loss. Matthew Ramanah scored seven, Alex Jacobsen 11, Alex Guillon 10, Brad Smeaton two, Giorgio Milio 10, Hasula Poogooda two and Logan Viskovich 10.

The under 18 Division one men lost 42 to 89. This sees them in sixth conference place with no wins and 10 losses. Charles Corr scored three, Luke Fletcher eight, Darcy Smit 13, Sanni Mandred two, Domenic Romeo five and Ben Ellis 11.

The under 18 women’s team is in fourth conference place out of six teams iwth three wins and six losses following their 60 to 52 win over the Tigers. Natasha Ziino scored four, Abbey Harris four, Bianca Parora two, Jessica Hughes 36, Lori Ashworth nine, Tiarn Burtenshaw four and Caitlin Largue one.

The under 20 men lost 61 to 73. Johno Montgomery scored 17, Sheldon Godfrey 10, Geordie Murray nine, Filip Glisic nine and Dylan Murphy seven. They are in third conference place out of six teams with four wins and three losses.

The men’s Development League team is in third conference place out of six teams with eight wins and five losses after their 68 to 60 victory over the Tigers. Blake Smith scored nine, Jared Faint four, Jake Whately 10, Tim Rendulic seven, Dale Elliot 18, Jamieson Lewis 16 and Joshua Guppy four.

The women’s Development League team has retained their top position in the six-team conference with 12 wins and one loss after they beat the Tigers 58 to 48. All players who lined up with Jessica Hughes scoring six, Gabby O’Sullivan six, Jessica Jakens 17, Kristy Jedrzewewski three, Catherin Tinley one, Alix Hayward two and Stephanie Sauter nine.

The Redbacks’ WABL teams play Stirling this Sunday, 24th July at the Warwick Leisure Centre (corner Warrwick and Wanneroo Roads, Warwick), with individual game times being found at www.wabl.asn.au.
