WEEK TWO OF WABL FINALS

:: Perth Basketball Association Inc. News Item

7-9-2009 - By Redback's Media

The second week of the WABL finals saw the Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks come out with one win and one loss.

The under 14 boys lost to the tough Willetton Tigers team 48 to 67. However, the score-line belies the tightness of the game which at one stage during the 3rd quarter saw the gap as low as 3 points. The loss means the boys are now out of the finals race. The boys should be proud of their efforts in going so far into the finals race.

The Division One Women’s team went one step towards defending the title they won in 2008 in beating the Mandurah Magic 54 to 49 in a game that went right down to the wire. The Redbacks won because of some late three-pointers and free throw that were made under pressure.

They are now the only Redbacks’ team to progress to the preliminary final round in the penultimate week of WABL finals. They will be playing Lakeside Lightning this Sunday, 13 September in a showdown at 4:00pm, with the winner going through to the Grand Final the following week.

Redbacks’ supporters are encouraged to come down en-masse and support our Division One girl’s in this important game.
