This weekend Christine Boyd reaches the 200 game milestone in the SBL. Boyd is playing in her 11th year in the WSBL, 7 of those with the Redbacks. In 199 games Boyd has scored 3272 points, grabbed 1785 rebounds to have career averages of 16.4 points and 8.9 rebounds.

Boyd's first season in the league was in 1997 with the Wanneroo Wolves. Averaging 13 points and and 7 rebounds she quickly established herself as a quality player and won the WSBL Rookie of the Year. In 1998 she moved to the Perth Redbacks and averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds in 26 games. Three years later Boyd played in the 2000 Championship team with other Redback stars such as Helen Vlahov, Maryanne Briggs, Brooke Hiddlestone, Kylie Amiet and Gillian Hendrie. The team was coached by Rod Justin.

In 1996 Boyd played with the AIS in the WNBL, while holding a scholarship. Upon moving back to WA she played with the Lynx from 1997-1999 and again in the 2000/2001, 2001/2002 as well as 2004/2005 seasons. She more recently has played with the Lynx in their last WNBL campaign (2006/2007). Her 114+ WNBL Career was highlighted with the 2002 Lynx MVP.
Boyd has also had international stints with Belgian champions Namur and in the Chinese Professional League with Chunquing.

Boyd has been the corner stone of the Redbacks teams for some time now and has won the Redbacks MVP award in 2006 along with the Rebounds Trophy in 1998 and 2000. She has also won the Redbacks Most Improved award in 2000 and 2001, as well as the Fairest and Best award in 2005. To prove she can do it all she has also won the Most Assists Trophy in the 2006 season.
Boyd needs just 10 more games to reach the 150 game milestone with the Redbacks and at just 27 years old there is plenty more great basketball to come from this superstar. It is safe to say that there is not much in the basketball world Boyd hasn't achieved!
We would love to see as many people as possible at Belmont to help the Redbacks celebrate a win and a milestone for a wonderful player.
