Australian Opal joins Redbacks for 2019
The Texture WA Perth Redbacks are excited to announce Australian Opals and Perth Lynx guard Lauren Mansfield as the clubs latest recruit.
Mansfield will join our WSBL team in 2019 as well as play a key role in growing and developing the clubs various participation and development initiatives off-court.
In the middle of a two-year deal with the Lynx, Lauren will spend the WNBL off-season as a key part of the Redbacks community.
Mansfield started her WNBL career in her hometown of Adelaide and has since had stints at South East Queensland and Canberra before joining the Lynx this season.
In addition to a strong WNBL career, Mansfield has had stints in Europe, went to Iowa State University in the US and recently was selected in the Australian Opals team for the FIBA World Cup.
Locally Mansfield has been a long-serving part of the Launceston community, playing in the SEABL with the Launceston Tornadoes.
“It is awesome to have a person of the calibre of Lauren Mansfield as part of our club” said Women’s Coach Craig Allen.
“Having played with distinction for Australia and in the WNBL she will no doubt add immensely to our women’s SBL program.”
“I’m particularly excited with not only what Lauren will bring to our SBL squad but very much to the club as a whole.”
Redbacks General Manager Christian Rice was equally excited to welcome Lauren to the Redbacks family.
