Lee Roberts Kickz101 State Basketball League Player of Week

New Perth Redbacks’ State Basketball League team signing Lee Roberts was awarded the Kickz101 player of the week for the entire competition.

Lee achieved this with the astonishing game statistics of 36 points, 15 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and a huge slam dunk to entertain the crowd in the Redbacks’ away-game 119 to 113 win against the Mandurah Magic.

Lee is also a heavy contributor to defence frequently being the first back enabling the early release of the safety defence player.

The Redbacks are now forming into a formidable starting-five combination with former Perth Wildcats players Joel Wagner and Jarrad Prior comprising the point-guard/shooting guard combination, high-scoring US import Stan Okoye occupying the small-forward position, Roberts the power-forward position and with the rising New Zealand star, Dennis Tawhiti, at the Centre.

They are ably backed up by Jarrad Jackson and Ezra Nikora at the point-guard position, young-gun Marshall Nelson and veteran Tim Rendulic as the shooting guards, Ashley Stevenson and Jamieson Lewis as small-forwards and Shaun Bennison and Zach Makavlitagia filling in the power forward and centre positions.

Redbacks' fans can come to see this powerful comination in action when the Redbacks' men take on the Kalamunda Eastern Suns this Saturday night at the Ray Own Sports Centre in Lesmurdie at 8.30PM.

This game is preceded by the Perth Redbacks’ Women’s State Basketball League match against the Suns at 6.30PM, when Stuart Budd’s steadily improving team is expected to put in a strong four-quarter performance to give themselves a real shot at pulling off their first win of the year.
