Benchmark Designer Homes WABL Wrap Round 13

The Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks and Lakeside Lightning split the honours with eight wins each in round 13 of the Western Australian Basketball League fixtures played at the Leisurelife Recreation Centre.

This evenness of this round is demonstrated by the fact that two games were decided by just one point, one game by two points, one game by three points and two games by four points.

Development League player Jamieson Lewis was the highest individual scorer out of the Redbacks’ men’s teams with 32, while under 16 Beau Chaplin had 31 and fellow under 16 Giordano Monteleone 29.

Under 18 Jessica Hughes was the top scorer out of the Redbacks’ women’s teams with 18, while up and coming under 13 Keziah Bin Sali had 17 and promising under 15 Rebecca Samson 13.

The Benchmark Designer Homes under 12 men’s team got the day off to a good start in their tight 48 to 45 win over Lightning. Luke Simonette scored eight, Izaayah Riley two, Jordan Rigden 12, Joshua Armstrong three, Kyle Bowen six, Jack Tognolini two and Jordon Herbert 14. This sees them with nine wins and four losses and in third Northern Conference place out of six teams.

The under 12 women are in second conference place out of five teams with five wins and five losses, after their 47 to 39 win over the Lightning. Unfortunately, individual scorers are not recorded on the Website.

The under 13 men had a narrow 41 to 50 loss. Mitchell Parker scored five, Reece Hewitt 14, Nazir Hashem four, Mihalo Bozic two, Ryan Bride eight, Jack Collard two and Nicholas Pyne four. They are unlucky to be in sixth conference place with a win / loss of three / ten games given the number of close results they have had this year.

The under 13 women lost 18 to 52, which sees them with one win and 10 losses and in fifth conference place. Chloe Smith had 10, Jordan Parkin two, Rachel Warren two, Caitlin Thacker two and Emma Bowen two.

In an exciting finish the under 14 men prevailed over Lakeside by two point with a score-line of 47 to 45. Connor Jansen had five, Jared Pedersen 10, Andrew Rich 10, Adam Parora five, Daniel Skelton five and Zac Huxley seven. They are in second conference place out of six teams with 10 wins and three losses.

The under 14 women have a season record of three wins and eight losses and are in fourth conference place out of five teams after having won 48 to 38. Keziah Bin Sali had 17, Emerson Lambert six, Ashtyn Mason one, Juliet Tucker 13, Gabriella Pyne two, Tayla Naudi one and Tegan Verren eight.

The under 15 men lost in a close encounter 49 to 53. They now have five wins and eight losses and are in fourth conference place out of six teams. Matthew Biletic had 15, Jeet Mann five, Sean Jakens six, Matthew Newell two, Jack Wagner four, Jonathon Warren five, Kevin Tingyendu three and Jack Lowes six.

The under 15 women lost 54 to 74. Paris McGuckin had one, Breanna Goodson six, Lainey Stewart 15, Michelle Curro five, Kyra Law 12, Rebecca Samson 13 and Emily Hughes two. They are in fifth conference place with no wins and 11 losses.

The under 16 men’s team won 93 to 62, which sees them in third conference place with has eight wins and five losses. Lattrell Matthews scored eight, Jarrett Donker six, Beau Chaplin 31, Julian Nelthorpe one, Giordano Monteleone 29, Jacob Marr nine and Yoseph Soliman three.

The under 16 women’s team lost 24 to 96. Sam Tognolini scored 12, Lucy Noll three, Tereasa Maines five, Tayla Goodson two and Alicia Matrenza two. They are in fifth conference place with two wins and 11 losses.

The under 18 division two men’s team has one win and 10 losses after their 48 to 80 loss. Individual scorers have not been recorded on the website for the Redbacks’ team.

The under 18 division one men’s team lost 61 to 75. Charles Corr had 11, Darcy Smit 21, Ashleigh Grigson three, Sanni Mandred two, Domenic Romeo 11 and Ben Ellis 12. They have no wins and 13 losses for the year and are in sixth conference place.

The under 18 women had a narrow 57 to 53 win over Lakeside, which sees them with five wins and six losses and in fourth conference place out of five teams. Natasha Ziino had one, Abbey Harris six, Bianca Parora two, Jessica Hughes 18, Lori Ashworth seven, Jessica Jakens nine, Caris Dinardo three, Alicia O’Brien two, Tiarn Burtenshaw three and Caitlin Largue six.

The under 20 men’s team had a dramatic 70 to 71 loss to Lakeside. They now have five wins and five losses and are in third conference place out of six teams. Dylan Murphy scored eight, Filip Glisic six, Jamieson Lewis 32, Steven Vigor four, Jake Whately 11, Geordie Murray five and Johno Montgomery two.

The D-League men reversed the under 20s result by having a one-point win against Lakeside 67 to 66. They are in third conference place out of six teams with 11 wins and five losses. There are no individual scorers recorded on the website for this game.

The D-League women won 76 to 68. Again no individual scorers recorded on the website for this game. They are top of the six-team conference with 14 wins and one loss.

The next round of fixtures for the Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks is away at the Ray Owen Sports Centre in Gladys Road Lesmurdie against the Eastern Suns.
