The Perth Redbacks women’s and men’s State Basketball League teams both lost to Mandurah Magic in two tough away games on Saturday night.

The Redbacks’ women’s 70 to 82 loss sees them slip from seventh to eighth place on the ladder with five wins and six losses.

Centre Marita Payne top scored for the Redbacks with 21 along with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

17-year-old forward Jessica Jakens was their next highest scorer on 12 and had five rebounds and two assists while shooting guard Kerise Delcoure had 11 points, three rebounds and two assists.

The Magic’s top-scorer was Tarsha Fletcher with 20 while Shelley Boston had 17.

The Redbacks’ men’s 95 to 101 loss sees them remain in seventh position with six wins and seven losses.

Forward Adrian Majstrovich was their highest scorer with 30 along with 13 rebounds and four assists, while point-guard Jarrad Jackson had 22 and five assists

Centre Michael Vigor scored 14 and had 12 rebounds, six assists and four steals while shooting guard Ryan Neill also scored 14 together with five rebounds.

The Magic’s Taylor Mullenax was the game-high scorer with 36 along with 15 rebounds, while Ben Smith scored 15 and 15 rebounds.

The Redbacks’ men’s team looks forward to the return of Sydney Kings point guard Joel Wagner along with US import Daniel Maddox, in this Saturday’s vital game against the top-placed Cockburn Cougars at the Belmont Oasis Leisure and Aquatic Centre.

The Redbacks women’s team also plays the Cougars in what is also a vital game for them, with their game starting at 6PM and the men’s game at 8PM.
