Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks’ fans are encouraged to ‘scream for your team’ in the first home game of the 2010 State Basketball League season this Saturday night.

The Redbacks are playing Cockburn Cougars at the Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre, Alexander Road (near Abernethy Road) Belmont with the women’s game starting at 6PM and the men’s game at 8PM.

As these are the first home games of the year the Len Vlahov Memorial Awards will be presented to the Redbacks’ most valuable women’s and men’s players. Eva and Andrew Vlahov will be there on the night to present the awards.

The women’s team will feature the return of last year’s League Most Valuable Player and champion forward Brooke Hiddlestone, along with former National Basketball League player Narelle Henry, in their drive towards the finals.

The men’s team will feature current Wildcats players Joel Wagner and Jarrad Prior, along with United States import and excitement machine Jon Meriweather who recently was the competition top-scorer in the SBL Pre-season tournament and displayed some remarkable dunks and shot-blocks.

All Redbacks’ fans are encouraged to come down wearing a combination of the club colours of Red and Black. We want you to show other teams how fanatical you are in supporting your club.

Entry prices are only $10 for adults, $5 for children and concession and $20 for a family of two adults and two children. Redbacks’ WABL players get in for $2 when carrying their entry card and accompanied by a paying adult.
