Perth Redbacks Scoop The Pool

Last Friday night the Perth Redbacks’ State Basketball League men’s team broke through for their first win of the season in a hard-fought 96 to 85 point victory against the Bunbury Slammers in Bunbury. In a come from behind win, they overcame a 14-point third quarter deficit by amassing 36 points in the final term to the opposition’s 11 points. Veteran shooting guard Ryan Neill top scored with 26 points and was closely followed by fellow shooting guard Jarrad Prior’s 25 points, which included 17 points in the last quarter.

The Redbacks’ men followed this up with a 122 to 95 point victory on the Saturday night at the Belmont Oasis Stadium against the East Perth Eagles. Top scorer for the Redbacks was forward Clint Tracy who amassed 25 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Joel Wagner was the next highest scorer with 24 points along with 12 assists.

The two win’s sees the men move four places up the ladder from 14th to 10th place with a season record of 2 wins and 7 losses

The Redbacks’ women also won both of their games on the weekend with an 81 to 49 win against the Slammers and an 81 to 46 win against the Eagles. Centre Christine Boyd was the top scorer against the Slammers with 27 points and forward Brooke Hiddlestone was the next highest with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Natalie Harris top scored for the Redbacks with 15 points and 10 rebounds in their win against the Eagles.

The two wins see the Redbacks’ women’s team with 6 wins and 2 losses and in 4th place on the 13-team ladder.

The action continues this Friday night at the Belmont Oasis Stadium with the Redbacks playing the Perry Lakes Hawks at the Belmont Oasis Stadium, with the women’s game starting at 6.30PM and the men’s game at 8.30PM.
