Perth Succumb To Stirling
In a tough encounter that went right down to the wire in last weekend’s State Basketball League fixtures the Perth Redbacks’ men’s team lost to the highly rated Stirling Senators combination, currently 2nd on the ladder, 92 to 106.
The Redbacks’ men welcomed the return of former East Carolina College player Luke Mackay, who scored 36 points and brought down 15 rebounds. Shooting guards Jarrad Prior and Ryan Neill were the next highest scorers for the Redbacks with 15 points each.
The loss sees leaves the Redbacks’ men with a season record of 2 wins and 10 losses and in 10th position in the 13 team competition.
The Redbacks’ women’s team also lost in a disappointing effort against the top placed Senators, 35 to 77. Perth Lynx player Christine Boyd was again their highest scorer at 14 points along with 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Krystelle Councillor was the next highest scorer with 9 points, while young up and coming player Simone Cornwall scored 7 points at am impressive field goal percentage of 60%.

The action continues this week at the Belmont Oasis against East Perth Eagles on Saturday night with the women’s game starting at 6PM and men’s game at 8PM.
