Devils make quarter-finals in two age groups at 2013 Junior State Cup!

In a wet and wild weekend of touch football, the junior Devils who travelled to Port Macquarie for the 2013 NSW Touch Football Junior State Cup came home with smiles, stories and saturated socks!

This year’s tournament was the first to be held outside of Wollongong in nearly 15 years and signalled the changing of the guard for Junior Touch Football.

Our 10s boys, 12s girls and 14s girls all tried hard and played well, but failed to make the top 16 of their age groups. Our 12s boys and 16s girls however found things much easier, qualifying for the quarter finals, and finishing in the top 8 of their respective divisions!

The 12's boys finished top of their pool with wins against Ryde-Eastwood, Berkeley Vale, Ballina and Muswellbrook and qualified 4thoverall in the round-of-16. They won through to the quarters with a 5-2 win against Penrith, but fell short against eventual runners-up Manly, going down 8-5.

The 16's girls beat Taren Point, Canterbury, Wests, Beresfield and drew with Peninsula on their way to the round-of-16, qualifying top of their pool, and 5th overall. They then faced off with Taren Point again in the final 16, winning 8-5, but went down to junior touch football powerhouse Parramatta 5-0 in the quarters.

All teams represented the Devils admirably, and Wollongong Touch Association congratulates each Devil on the way they performed and represented the Association.
