The Rockingham Flames welcomed the Goldfields Giants to the Hot House for a special Good Friday match-up as round five of the State Basketball League tipped- off.

The first quarter commenced with the Flames getting a nice spread of scoring as Joey Harrell was making an impression inside and out while the visitors looked to their import pair of Haney and Hird. The Flames held a slender one point lead after 12 minutes of play (28-27).

In the second term the Flames offensive structure hit full swing as great ball movement coupled with and a cameo from Ryan Godfrey (14 first half points) extended the locals lead to six (56-50).

The third quarter commenced with the Flames extending their lead out to 11 points before that man Haney popped back up to take over the game and regain the lead for the Giants 77-72.

In the last the Giants hit a number of long range bombs to break the hearts of the local team with Ballantyne and Hulme running riot as the visitors scored 37 last quarter points to just 12 from the Flames eventually claiming a 114-84 victory.

Import Joey Harrell finished with 27pts and 10 rebs in his best showing for the club while Godfrey returned to the line-up with 17pts and 5rebs and captain Travis Moore had a double double with 15pts and 10rebs.

Next weekend the Flames have a double header with a Friday night trip out to Morley to face the East Perth Eagles but Saturday will see both teams return to the Hot House to face the Stirling Senators with a 6:00pm start for the Lady Flames and 8:00pm tip-off for the men.
