Senators prepare for battle

This weekend’s double-header for the Stirling Senators is a chance for both the 5th placed Lady Senators and the 8th placed men to tighten their grip in the top 8, as they go up against the Perry Lakes Hawks on Friday night and host the Lakeside Lightning on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Stirling Senators are marking a rumble in the pews against the Lakeside Lightning, as the Churches of Christ Club battle it out against the Baptist Club in a double top 8 clash.

As both the Senators and Lightning operate out of a Christian ethos, they look to create new tradition between the clubs for the 2014 season and beyond.  Senators CEO Josh Nipps believes tradition between the clubs will demonstrate a shift in culture. ‘We want to create a lasting tradition with Lakeside, centred on our mutually important Christian values’ said Josh.

Though this exciting new tradition will be underpinning Saturday night’s game, it will be a battle on the court.  Sitting inside the top 8, the in-form Senators are excited for the show down against the Lightning.

Captain Jordan Wild commented ‘We are ready to take on the Lightning.  We have had a few injuries early in the season, but our win against the Tigers cemented us together as a team.  We are focused on the Hawks this Friday and will be prepared for the Lightning on Saturday night.’

Coach Dave Lindstrom seconds Wild’s comments, adding ‘this is our first double header of the season, and I am confident we will perform to our full ability this weekend against both the Hawks and Lakeside’.

The Senators vs the Lighting is expected to draw a large crowd to Warwick Leisure Centre on Saturday night.  If you are unable to attend the game make sure you tune into 98.5 Sonshine FM, as the men’s game will be broadcast live at 8pm.

The Stirling Senators play the Perry Lakes Hawks on Friday night at WA Basketball Centre, the women tipping off at 6.30pm and the men at 8.30pm.

The Senators then host the Lakeside Lightning at Warwick Leisure Centre on Saturday night, the women tipping off at 6pm and the men at 8pm.
